Department of Industrial and Agricultural Technology (TIN) of Faculty of Agricultural Technology of Bogor Agricultural University (FATETA – IPB) implemented "3rd International Conference on Adaptive and Intelligent Agroindustry (ICAIA) 2015", on Monday, 3 August 2015, at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC) Bogor. It is the joint-cooperative program between Department of TIN of FATETA – IPB with the Association of Agro-Industry of Indonesia (Agrin).
Regent of Bogor, Hj. Nurhayati, who grace the occasion in her remarks stated "This conference is very important and strategic to generate new concepts and strategies in the development of the agricultural industry, especially in Bogor. The big challenge for Bogor is how to adopt environment-friendly technologies and increasing sustainable access to safe for food resources, energy, water and land ".
Then, Chairman of the Department of TIN of FATETA – IPB, Prof. Dr Nastiti Siswi Indrasti expected that the seminar could build agro-adaptive industry with current-based conditions. Further she explained, the applied agricultural industry included nanotechnology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, food processing, food packaging-waste.
The event was officially opened by the Institutional Secretary of IPB, Dr. Ibnul Qayim, which was divided into four topics, namely Agro-Industry Innovation and Business Systems Engineering; Process and Bioprocess approach; New Trends in Industrial Engineering and Management of Agriculture; as well as Adaptive Information and Communication Technologies in the Future Agroindustry.
Participants of the conference were researchers, lecturers, the government institutional representatives, practitioners and graduate students from local and international universities of various disciplines, such as the Industrial Technology, Computer Science and Agricultural Engineering, Economics, Management and Business.
Resource persons invited for the conference were as follows: Dr. Irawadi Djamaran, Dr. Yandra Arkeman, Dr. Ananta Vishnu Kusuma of IPB; Prof. Kenneth De Jong of George Meson University, USA; Dr. Guillermo Baigorria of the University of Nebraska Lincoln, USA; Prof. Noel Lindsay, Dr. Barry Elsey, Prof. Allan O’Connor, Dr. Frank Neumann of the University of Adelaide, Australia; Kiyotada Hayashi of the National Agricultural Research Center-Tsukuba, Japan; and Dr. Gajendran Kandasamy of Melbourne University, Australia. 64 Indonesian and foreign papers were presented at this conference.
