Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan (HIMITEKA – Student Association of Marine Science and Technology) launched a new book on Teluk Banten, on the  Commemoration of Hari Nusantara 2014, in Serang, Banten, on 1 December 2014. Hari Nusantara or Archipelago Day Commemoration was organized by the Department of Marine Fisheries of Energy and Mineral Resources (DKPSDM), Serang District.

The launching of the new book was marked by the presentation of the book by Chairman of the expedition, Steven Solikin (ITK 48), to the DKPESDM Serang District, represented by the Head of Department, Drs. H. Budi Mulyono T, M.Sc. In his remarks as appeared in the Teluk Banten Book, "Serang District local Government is happy to learn that HIMITEKA successfully published the book “Teluk Banten” that explains the waters of the  Gulf of Banten, with its small islands attached.  The study will become the reference for  Serang District Government,  in particular for better  management of Banten Bay waters in the future. "

The book on Teluk Banten describes coastal ecosystems of seven islands located in the Gulf Banten, namely Pulau Panjang, Tunda, Pamujan Besar, Pamujan Kecil, Pisang, Lima, and Kubur.  The book is the result of the study carried out by HIMITEKA, in collaboration with DKPESDM Serang District. The team conducted a scientific expedition in Banten Bay in August 2014. Students implemented their study not only on mangrove, seagrass, and coral reefs, but also the quality of the waters in the Gulf of Banten.

In addition to launch new book, HIMITEKA also exhibited some of their findings as the results of the expedition, including samples of mangroves and seagrass herbarium as well as photos which were obtained during an expedition.

The Director of Small Island Utilization of DJKP3K, and the Regent of Serang, Mr. Taufik Nuriman attended the special event. Both of them received book on the results of the HIMITEKA expedition as a souvenir. (Wied).
