KK and ASSIKI Encouraged Moral and Character Transformation
Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK), Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in collaboration with Association of Family and Consumer Sciences of Indonesia (ASIKKI) held the national seminar with the editorial of "Transformasi Moral dan Karakter dalam Mendukung Pembangunan Bangsa / Moral and Character Transformation in Support of Nation Building”, 24/11. Dean of FEMA IPB, Dr. Arif Satria, stated, "This activity becomes one step ahead to strengthen the family and consumer sciences in Indonesia."
Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Dr. Ilah Sailah, stated, " This forum is very good because however it is good we create the curriculum in the university, we cannot give the hope that the formal education will change everything because we should be together with the family education." In this occasion, Dr. Ilah much described what had been done by the Directorate General of Higher Education during this time. In this seminar, Head of Agency of National Population and Family Planning (BKKBN), Prof. Dr. Fasli Djalal, explained that the profile of family in Indonesia and the resilience of family welfare, and he also explained about the programs of BKKBN including Planning Generation Program (Genre) and Elderly Family Development Program (BKL).
The material session of this seminar presented some speakers, among them Prof. Dr. Arief Rachman (Chairman of National Commission for UNESCO), Prof. Dr. Ujang Suwarman (Chairman of Department of IKK FEMA IPB), and Dr. Amich Alhumami (Directorate of Education, Ministry of PPN/Bappenas). Prof. Dr. Arief Rachman stated, "The success of educaton is the education that can deliver the student to be devoted, to have mature personality and sophisticated knowledgeable, to be the achievers, and to have a sense of nationhood and global perspective ". Prof. Dr. Arief Rachman also explained that the character and nature of the nation were the character, temperament, disposition, or good/positive properties of the nation based on the values of the nation.
Prof. Dr. Ujang Sumarwan explained the material related to "The Role of Family and Consumer Sciences in Support of Nation Building". "Many factors will affect the formation of the quality of human resources, among these factors the most important is family. Family is the first place to develop the human resources. The quality of human resources existing in the family will determine the quality of the family, then it determines the quality of community and the quality of a nation ", said Prof. Dr. Ujang Sumarwan.
