Participation of Head and Staff of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of IPB in International Conference PAWEES 2014, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Fateta-IPB, Prof. Dr Budi Indra Setiawan with Dr. Nora Harris Pandjaitan and Dr. Chusnul Arif attended and became speakers in the International Conference PAWEES 2114. This is the annual meeting of the International Society of Paddy and Water Environment Engineering (PAWEES) in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan, 30-31 October 2014. (http://pawees.net/).

The conference with the theme "Sustainable Water and Environmental Management in Monsoon Asia" was attended by participants from 16 countries, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, France, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal and the United States. On this occasion, Prof. Dr Budi Indra Setiawan, one of the Invited Keynote Speakers, presented a paper on "Co-Designing Integrated Water Resource Management: A Case Study in Saba Watershed of Bali Island", which is the result of research collaboration between LPPM-IPB and the Research Institute for Human and Nature (RIHN), Japan (http://www.chikyu.ac.jp/rihn_e/project/C-09.html), since 2011.

Also on this occasion, Dr. Nora Harris Pandjaitan and Dr. Chusnul Arif presented papers respectively entitled "Development of Hydraulic Design Criteria of Drainage System" and "Predicting Greenhouse Gas Emissions of SRI Paddy Fields under Different Soil Conditions using Artificial Neural Networks".

The conference, in addition to producing a Kaohsiung Statement, also agrees that Malaysia will be the organizer of PAWEES 2015 in Kuala Lumpur 19-21 October 2015. (Mtd)
