CCROM Holds LowCARNET Meeting

The Center for Climate Risk and Opportunity Management of Southeast Asia and
Pacific (CCROM-SEAP) LPPM carried out the 3rd annual meeting of Low Carbon Asia
Research Network (LowCARNet), 24-26 / 11, involving researchers from various countries in Asia as both representatives of governments, private sectors, NGOs and other stakeholders.
This meeting is a follow up of the proposals submitted by the International Research Network for Low Carbon Societies, LCS-Rnet in the meeting of Ministers of the Environment ASEAN + 3 in Cambodia in October 2011. It is expected that LoCARNet can facilitate sustainable favorable conditions, turning challenges into opportunities. The meeting is also expected to be one forum of exchanging knowledge and experience of the countries in Asia to develop policies and implement low-carbon development.

This meeting was held by IPB in cooperation with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), the Center for Policy Energy Research of Bandung Institute of Technology Energy (CRE-ITB), and the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) with support from the Ministry of Environment of Japan, National Development Planning Agency, and Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Prof.Dr.Emil Salim, former Minister of Environment was as the main speaker, and other speakers were Vice-Rector for Research and Cooperation Prof. Dr Anas Miftah Fauzi, Bogor Mayor Dr.Bima Arya Sugiarto, Dr.Endah Murniningtyas of BAPPENAS, Prof.Matsuoka from the University of Kyoto Japan, and a number of other officials including IPB academicians.(Mtd)
