Special Discussion Between IPB and Boarding and Rented House Owners
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) campus is located in the west of the border line between Bogor city and Bogor District, and there are 17 villages around the Campus. Due to its location, the communities in these areas open their 1300 houses as boarding houses for 25 thousand students of IPB. To create conducive and healthy environment, that are safe, clean and decent for those IPB students to study and develop themselves, the Directorate of Student Affairs of IPB organized the social gathering and special discussion for Boarding and Rented House Owners, on 15 October 2014, at the Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasution, Dramaga Campus, Bogor.
Keynote speakers for this special meeting were: (1). Dr. Rinekso Soekmadi, the Director of Student Affairs (DITMAWA); (2). Mr. Syarifudin Gayo, Chief Police of Dramaga Sector; (3). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Firdaus, the Head Management Agency of Boarding for Level Joint Preparation (BPA-TPB); and (4). Dr Megawati Simanjuntak, the Deputy Director of Students Welfare. "Mutual understanding between us is really required”. We will build a sort of security checks which will be managed by Dr. Megawati Simanjunta. We have to improve the quality services for students, as their successful studies will depend very much on their good environments, such as comfortable and appropriate housing. Therefore, such social gathering will be planned intensively, "said Dr. Rinekso Soekmadi in front of hundreds of owners of boarding houses in the neighbourhood of IPB.
The concept of ideal residence initiated by Ditmawa IPB, there should be the standard for safety system, cleanliness, decency and good manners of social interaction. For safety, each boarding or rented is encouraged to have their respective gate that are lockable; segregate rooms for male and female students (specifically for girls or boys); has specific curfew; iron bars on every window; recommended CCTV for the sensitive places; and the regulations on entertaining guests. "These standards should be implemented to suppress crime (theft of motorcycles, laptops, mobile phones, etc.) that are often suffered by students. In addition, the curfew and regulations in entertaining guests are to prevent students of vice and immoral, "said Dr. Megawati. (Wied).
