University of Nebraska Officials Wanted to Build Partnership with IPB
Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture & Natural Resources University of Nebraska United States of America, Dr. Ronnie Green, visited to Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). His arrival received rave reviews from the Vice Rector of Resources and Strategic Studies, Prof. Hermanto Siregar along with the faculty staff and researchers of IPB in the Meeting Room of Rector, Campus of IPB Dramaga (17/9).
“We come to Bogor in order to explore the potential of cooperation between IPB with University of Nebraska in the fields of agriculture, environment and natural resource management. During this time, the form of cooperation such as what has been done by IPB with universities in the United States of America?” asked Dr. Ronnie to the researchers and faculty staff of IPB specifically invited by the Directorate of Cooperation and International Program.
Answering the question of Dr. Ronnie, Prof. Hermanto explained that IPB usually formed a partnership through a four-lane, namely the cooperation funded by the government of Indonesia, the cooperation between universities (sharing of funds), the cooperation with full funding from one of the universities, and the cooperation with funding from outside, for example by USAID and JICA.
In his speech, Prof. Hermanto had to give the current conditions of the agriculture of Indonesia. According to him, the government which would be sworn in next month was still position the agriculture as the priority. And December next year Indonesia faced a major challenge with the entry into force of Asean Economy Community (AEC).
“Food is the priority of every nation, then this becomes a shared responsibility especially IPB. If there is a rise in the price of chili or onion, the society must ask where is IPB? Therefore we should be able to contribute to the nation’s best. One of them is to build cooperation with various parties,” said Prof. Hermanto.(zul)
