The Visit of the Team Assessors of IMAREST at ITK – IPB
Department of Marine Science and Technology (ITK) Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), Bogor Agricultural University officially received the Accreditation Agencies “Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST)”, the UK, on 22-24 September 2014. The objective of the visit was to assess for the renewal of the international accreditation of ITK IPB.
The team was consisted of Mr. Philip Sayer, PhD, and Ben Saunders, who served audit and confirm some of the recommendations granted in the previous accreditation. The first day of their Agenda, on 22 September 2014, was the meeting with the Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc and the Industrial Advisory Board. At the meeting of the assessors emphasized the special role of IPB and the Industrial Advisory Board to support the development of ITK in the future.
The second day, 23 September 2014, the team visited the institutional workshops and laboratories to assess the working safety and health in those workshops and laboratories. The third day, 24 September 2014, the team met students to discuss the service and warrant of IPB for their safety during their study period at IPB. The last item of their agenda was the meeting with Kantor Manajemen Mutu (KMM – Quality Management Office) of IPB to enquiry directly from the KMM Head, Dr. Fredinand Yulianda, about the concept of working safety and health applied at IPB.
Dr. Sayer was very grateful for ITK, as well as for IPB for the cooperative support given when the team visited IPB. Then, as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, the UK, he expressed his sincere thanks and pleased with the progress achieved by ITK and IPB. Finally, other member of the team, Mr. Ben Saunders, added that the present ITK and IPB conditions is deserved to be recommended for its four- year period of international accreditation by IMarEST. Automatically, ITK students will be given IMarEST membership.
At the end, the Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation, Prof. Anas Miftah Fauzi, M. Eng acknowledged the IMarEST and also congratulated ITK on the achievements it made. Prof. Anas expected such important moment will enable ITK to establish international networks and cooperation with any institutions that under the IMarEST. To conclude, Chairman of the Department of ITK, Dr. Wayan Jaya Nur, expressed his sincere thanks for IPB, FPIK, ITK and the members of the academic community for support for the implementation of the international accreditation process.
