Ustad Sirojudin, Illuminating Lembur LeutiK Kampong with Preaching
The fact that children in the countryside can recite the Qur’an and perform daily prayers can not be separated from the real work by the Qur’an teachers. Through these teachers, the parents often leave their children to acquire sound behaviors. This is felt by the parents in Lembur Leutik Kampong, RT 04 RW 03 of Cihideung Ilir Village, Ciampea District, Bogor Regency. Since the arrival of Ustad Sirojudin in this village in 2001, they have entrusted their children to be taught the Koran by this alumni of Nurul Furqan Islamic Boarding School. The method of Ustad Sirojudin’s teaching is generally the same as that of other Qur’an teachers in the countryside, that is, using the system of "sorogan": a child in front of a teacher learning to recite. The learning is every day after the evening prayers. Despite using the system "sorogan", the husband of Heni Andriyani (33) admits teaching alone the children, amounting to some 50 pupils.
The Qur’an reading is regularly done in his home. However, not even the slightest Ustad Sirojudin charges payment for their time, energy and even electricity provided for the learning of the children in his village. "I just ask the children to pray for me to remain healthy. It is just enough for me that they can learn and are diligent in the prayers," said Ustad Sirojudin when met in Cihideung Ilir Village Hall, Thursday (3/7).
Beyond his routine as a teacher of the Koran, the father of three children makes a living as a driver of public transportation of Ciampea-Laladon route. But two months ago, he decided to quit as a driver, and turned into a mobile seller of children’s clothing from one village to another. Luckily, his wife is willing to support their families with small trading at home. Thus, during the day the time is for making a living, and the evening is to teach the children of his village.
In 2012, Ustad Sirojudin began to form a Marawis group called "Nurul Muttaqiin" for children of elementary school age of his teaching. Marawis was established to make children more motivated to study the Qur’an. Marawis needs children who are not just skillful at music, but also good at reciting solawat, which means requiring the understanding of pronunciation and articulation of correct sounds/letters, and it can only be acquired if they are diligent at reading the Qur’an. As for the youth, Ustad Sirojudin embraces them through "Hadroh" similar to Marawis. However, due to the relatively expensive musical instruments, Hadroh team has not yet developed as well as Marawis team. Ustad Sirojudin says, despite only two years of its establishment, the Marawis team has performed in many places, such as Bogor, Sukabumi, even Jakarta. At the end of the conversation, Ustad Sirojudin delivered a message he always remembers from his teacher, that is, to practice the knowledge possessed even if it is of only one verse. It is this that he has continued to do until now. (Mtd)
