They came to IPB to attend the Parents of  Student Meeting Annual Meeting with the Executive Boards of IPB. This year, IPB admitted around 3,500 new students about 60% ofwhom were admitted through  SNMPTN system.

Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr.IrHerrySuhardiyanto, M.Sc and other members of the Boards, such as Vice Chancellor, Dean, Head of Dormitory Management, Director of the Joint Preparatory Level, Academic Senate, and Board of Professors present at this special meeting. At the beginning of the dialogue Rector briefed the audiences about IPB

On this meeting, Rector confirmed to the parent of students that IPB prioritizes the quality of education and not corporate profits. In addition, he stated that IPB campus has been  developed not as to be a luxury campus that but a conducive place for the students to learn.

With regard to the to the amount of UangKuliah Tunggal (UKT – SingleTuition Fee) which are commonly asked by parents, he stated that "Since 2003, IPB has implementedcross-subsidy systemtuition fee. The system allows the University to subsidize less fortunate students. Parents who are considered capable of economic conditions, they have to pay higher tuition fee compared with parents whose economic conditionsare considered to be less fortunate. Later this system was adopted by the government as the UKT, "he said.

According to the UKT system, the government classified the economic situation of parents into five categories (based on the fixed-income of parents), but IPB still maintains its own classification, it classify parents according to eight categories. The goal is to provide opportunity for students from less fortunate families to be able to pursue their higher degree education. "For parents who are classified to have higher UKT, honestly they are expected to be their contributions (infaq) for the less fortunate families and I hope it will become our saving for our next life."he explained.
