The success of the national development lied on the success of the education sector. The good education would be able to increase the nation’s dignity. The good education would be realized if characterized, namely the education was not only concerned with the hard skill but also the soft skill. 
 
This was contained in ideas and strategic thinking of Board of Professors (DGB) of IPB in commemorating the National Education Day, 2 May 2014 submitted in the discussion with the reporters at Cafe Taman Koleksi Campus of IPB Baranangsiang, Wednesday (30/4).
 
Character education was character value, moral, and disposition aiming to develop the ability of learners to maintain what was good and embodied the goodness in everyday life. The character education was conducted since Primary School (SD), Junior High School (SMP), Senior High School (SMA) to University (PT), family and community environment through thought, sense, intention, soul in order to form the character of an honest soul, responsible, care, and mutual appreciation.
 
Meanwhile, the discussion moderated by Prof.Dr. Hadi Susilo Arifin presented the resource persons as Prof.Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, Prof.Dr. MA.Chozin, and Prof.Dr. Roedhy Poerwanto. Also, presented the Director of Strategic Studies and Agricultural Policy (KSKP) of IPB, Dr. Dodik R Nurochmat, and Head of Law Office of Promotion and Public Relations (HPH) of IPB Ir.Yatri Indah Kusumastuti, M.Si.
 
Professors of IPB conveyed that PT was the education at the level of the valuable, but it should be grounded not in an ivory tower position. The education was based on Pancasila that upheld the academic ethics. Maintaining and practicing science and technology and appreciating the culture through education, research and community service.
 
PT functioned as the place to search for scientific truth, to find out, to expand and to deepen the science, becoming the central control and the development of technology and art and trying to make use it for the human welfare.
 
Meanwhile, Chairman of Academic Senate of IPB, Prof. Dr. Tridoyo Kusumastanto in his discussion material conveyed, the economic development showed the significant growth. Wherein one last decade, it grew between 4.6 to 6.49 per cents. A good number from the aggregate side needed to be corrected because from the side of the income gap it increased, namely in 2012 from 0.329 to 0.413 in 2013. Specifically, Prof.Tridoyo provided the message to the selected President 2014, so the synergy of PT policy and the policy of the national development should become the priority. (wly).
