UQ President and Delegation Visited IPB

News

Delegation of The University of Queensland Australia (UQ) chaired by its president, Prof Peter Hoj visited Bogor Agricultural University to strengthen current collaborations of UQ-IPB and also identify possible new areas of collaboration.  The delegation had fruitful discussion with Rector of IPB, vice rector for research and collaboration, directors, deans, and faculty members.  Several faculties of IPB such as faculty of veterinary, faculty of animal science, and faculty of agricultural engineering and technology which already had collaboration activities with UQ, ranging from joint scientific meeting to joint/double degree program, presented the their current activities and/or their plan in the near future.

Joint degree program has been initiated in the area of environmental study since 2010.  However, the execution of the joint degree program is not yet fully successful due to high tuition fee of UQ and high dependance on external funding source. Therefore, alternative funding schemes must be identified by both parties. In addition, credit earning and joint degree program from other faculties were also proposed and need to be further elaborated. Special concern  on

the inbound students to IPB is potentially overcome by the establishment of Colombo Plan by the Australian Government to facilitate Australian students to study

abroad in short period of time. Several topics  of possible joint research were also presented by IPB faculties which mainly focus on the area of food, energy, andagriculture. (*/DKPI)
