IPB Cooperates with SMBC

News
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) is conducting cooperation with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), Japan. The signing of the agreement was on Monday (24/3) at Dramaga campus of IPB, attended by 12 SMBC’s representatives.

Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, MSc welcomes this business cooperation, which is potential to develop in the field of education and research. According to Head of Sub-Director of International Programs, Directorate of Cooperation and International Programs of IPB, Dr. Eko H. Purnomo, SMBC is a banking institution or banking company from the private sector. "In this partnership, IPB and SMBC agree to facilitate Japanese companies in partnership with MBC doing business in Indonesia. Surely this facilitation is not solely for the benefit of Japanese companies, but also for the development of the local economy and industry in Indonesia."

As a follow-up to the signing of this cooperation, technical discussions will be conducted as efforts in its implementation. For instance, when a Japanese industry will develop its food industry in Indonesia, they are constrained by the aspect of halal (lawful) products. "They really need the information about the permitted product, so IPB is in initial steps to offer some sorts of seminar or workshop on the halal management system in Indonesia. Hopefully such information can help Japanese business with its expansion to Indonesia," he said.

In addition, it is very potential for the companies in Indonesia to be developed and in partnership with Japanese companies. It is here where the role of IPB is to connect the two sides. This event was attended by Prof. Nastiti, Dr. Eddy Hartulistioso and Dr. Puspo Edi Giriwondo. (Mtd)
