Bogor Agricultural University Welcomes Governor of North Kalimantan

Governor of North Kalimantan, Dr. Irianto Lambrie delivered oration for both the  undergraduate and the graduate students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). The oration was held in the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Dramaga Campus, Wednesday, 5 March 2014. In his oration he expressed his desire to utilize any ideas or innovations made by IPB communities to develop North Kalimantan soon, particularly to expedite the natural resources – based available at the border line of North Kalimantan. Further the Governor stated that North Kalimantan is endowed by rich of natural resources, but so far the communities at large of this newly born province have yet enjoyed the wealth of their resources. In this special lecture the governor encouraged students of IPB to be prospective change agents. North Kalimantan has complete potentialities. "A large river for electricity generator. Fisheries, oil palm, rice fields, salt mines, irrigation are all available in this newly born province. Moreover, North Kalimantan is also Krayan rice producer, the most expensive rice with its very distinctive flavour, this commodity is really  suitable and  relevant to subject offered by IPB, " he said.
 
As the newly born province, North Kalimantan which is only ten months old, is said to have Gross Domestic Product (GDP) higher than both  Gorontalo and Maluku provinces. "Its GDP will be higher if its natural resources have been developed optimally. The development will of course generate thousands of jobs. Moreover, in terms of its fisheries and maritime potentialities, when they are well-managed they will be very beneficial. Espcially, the North Kalimantan sea waters is the international trade lines." This public lecture will then be followed by the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IPB with the North Kalimantan Province. (Wied).
