Now our irrigation canals operate again and irrigate the agricultural area of ten hectares in five Neighborhoods (RT) of Neglasari. So said Onasih, Chairman of Posdaya Sabilulungan, who is also Chairman of Early Childhood Education of Nurul Islam, in the Friday Tour held by Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in Neglasari, Bogor Regency, Friday (8/11).

Onasih explained, before it was repaired, the irrigation, the water of which comes from the Cihideung River, did not run  well. The water did not flow and the drainage is damaged, not maintained. "The water was not flowing and blocked," said Onasih.

With the service activity carried out by the Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM-IPB), the irrigation is repaired. This activity also involves IPB students and the IPB Student Association of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Himasil – Fateta – IPB). "IPB contributes building materials such as stones, sand, iron, wood, and baskets. IPB also helps with the repairman of the irrigation, so it flows again," he said. According to Onasih, now the farmers of Neglasari feel happy because they can grow rice, corn, beans and other crops.

"For this, I would like to thank IPB. It is not only irrigation but also many community development activities that have been carried out by IPB for us such as education, health, and training for cadres of Posyandu”.

Meanwhile, in the Friday Tour, Vice Head of LPPM-IPB for the Community Service Division, Dr. Hartoyo asked the people of Neglasari to improve their capacity through the empowerment institutions in the village such as Posdaya, early childhood education and Posyandu.

"IPB can not provide everything the community wants. However, IPB can be a facilitator or a bridge to the existing problem," said Dr. Hartoyo in his speech.

In this Friday Tour, there was also an exhibition of some crops: cassava with the size above average, taro, and a wide variety of processed foods produced by Posdaya Sabilulungan. In the event IPB also donated some aids to 20 orphaned children, medical equipment, educational facilities for Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Darul Huffadz, and submitted training certificates ‘Capacity Building of Family Welfare Institution’ (PKK ).
