IPB Finalized the Tourism Concept of Villages Around the Campus

Institute for Research and Community Service, Bogor Agricultural University (LPPM-IPB) held the Workshop of the Tourism Development of Villages around the Campus in the Meeting Room of Rector, Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, Thursday (24/10). Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry  Suhardiyanto, M.Sc said, in this opportunity the civitas and the City Government discussed the important things on how the villages around the campus could continue to be developed  and could actually be one of the important drafts in improving the social welfare.

 

Tourism was one of the outstanding sectors, including into three sectors to be the prime over the national economy. Only the tourism sector was still not developed optimally. Currently there were still a lot of untapped tourist destinations. All this time we relied more traditional destination. "We develop the village tourism based on the community based. IPB looks at this concept based on the ecotourism perspective which can preseve nature. This will attract a lot of people to visit and able to drive the local economy," said the Rector.

 

On this opportunity, Dr. Siti Nurisjah, MSLA explained in her presentation related to the design of agro-torism development of villages around the campus. The tourism village was divided into some tourist bases which amongst them were nature-based tourism area (forest, river), water-based tourism area (situ), organic agriculture based tourism area and agricultural life based tourism area.

 

Mayor of Bogor elected, Dr.Bima Arya, in this occasion said: "I have been long dreaming of forum like this because of as a lecturer and a researcher, according to me, the strength of development design depends on the synergy of research and policy maker. Simultaneously with this forum, we also construct the derivatives of RPJMD in the next five years.” According to Dr.Bima, with this meeting IPB wanted to strengthen the perception of Bogor City Government about the potential development of Bogor in the future.  “The development and structuring of potential of Bogor City shall be based on the historical factor or the historical of Bogor City as the tourism city and the comfortable dwelling will be customized the demographic development. My conclusion, Bogor City has a big potential in the tourist area," said Dr.Bima. (RF)
