Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held 2013 Field Day  with the theme “Diseminasi Teknologi Produksi untuk Meningkatkan Produktivitas Pertanian dan Kesejahteraan Petani” (Dissemination of Production Technology for Increasing Agricultural Productivity and Welfare of Farmers), in Leuwikopo,Darmaga Campus, on Saturday, 12 October 2013. The 2013 Field Day planned some activities, that includes: (1). Exhibition and Technology Degree; (2). The socialization of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP); and (3). FarmersAdvocacy and Temu Keluarga Besar Agronomi (TEGAR – Gathering of Agronomy Big Family). This grand event was symbolically opened by the Rector of IPB, Prof..Dr..Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto,M.Sc with a ribbon cutting.
 
"On behalf of the Executive Boards and the entire community members of IPB, wewarmly welcometo campus for farmers from all part of Indonesia, that includes Karawang, Lampung, LebakBanten, Bogor, and Pasuruan. It is really an honour for us, to have all of you here in the 2013Field Day. Your visit shows that IPB is really close to the farmers. I specifically want to acknowledge and appreciate the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University which has organized this excellent event, and special thanks and highest appreciation are due to the Organizing Committee who have worked hard to make this event implemented. In this special event the OC exhibit the innovation in the agricultural productivity, and hopefully this event will assist farmers hope to be more prosperous, "said Prof. Dr..Ir. HerrySuhardiyanto, M.Sc.
 
On that special occasion, the Rector of IPB urged the audiences to praise God for the blesses granted for us,  especially the agricultural achievements made exhibited in this 2013Field Day.
 
"Through the 2013Field Day, let us be thankful to God. The Gratitude that leads us to be awarethe importance of close relationships.Further, we should strengthen our cooperation as we compete with various external challenges, especially those who have opinions for importationsof agricultural commodities whenever we experience shortcomings. These opinions should be opposed by approaching them wisely.  We have to get closer to them and mastering well on market, by cutting the distance between producers (farmers) and consumers. Theshort  distance between producers and consumers, will enable us to deliver good quality products on time. Thus, the marketing process won’t depend on the marketing chain or other internalities issues, "added Prof. Dr..Ir. HerrySuhardiyanto, M.Sc.
 
After the opening ceremony, the Rector of IPB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IPB and PT. Agricon. "On behalf of PT. Agriconwe would like to extend our sincere thanks for IPB. Hopefully this MoU will be a forever partnership! We do not expect that signing of MoU will be merely the ceremonial activity, that’s our commitment. Once we agree, we will work hand-in-hand to cooperate and develop our institutions, "said Harlan Bengardi, Chief Operating Officer of PT. Agricon.(Wied).
