“We are glad that IPB is selected as the consultation place and the opinion net. It is an appreciation for us. Why? Because of this Statute No 27 we view as UU with its strategic substance. And by chance IPB is the only State University that has the credential in a broad sense, including fishery and marine. Friends at the Faculty of Fishery and Marine Science (FPIK) IPB are their exceptional competence. Hopefully, we can provide input or opinon in the public consultation and this opinion net,” said Prof Hermanto.

Further Prof Hermanto said, viewed of the history, the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries of RI just existed after ‘weaned’ from the Ministry of Agriculture at the age of Gus Dur. Meanwhile, IPB had long wrestled this maritime world.

The activity followed by a number of members of Commission IV DPR RI presented a number of resource persons, including the marine expert of IPB, Dr Fredinan Yulianda, Head of Research Center for Development of Marine and Maritime Civilization, Suhana, and the representative of World Wide  Fund for Nature (WWF).  Head of Commission IV DPR RI, Herman Khaeron, in his foreword hoped that this statute could completed before the upcoming elections of legislatives and president of 2014.
