Again IPB Dominates Most Prospective Indonesian Innovation

News
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in 2013 again becomes the most innovative university, after the past five years of 2008-2012 contributing the highest number of most innovative work among other universities in Indonesia. Out of 105 most prospective innovations determined by Ministry of Research and Technology and Business Innovation Center (BIC), 55 percent are innovative works of IPB academic communities. This was stated by IPB’s Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Ir. Anas Miftah Fauzi, M.Eng in Business Meeting called "IPB’s Innovation-Based Business Development," Thursday (5/9) at IPB International Convention Center.

Prof. Anas said, one of the keys for IPB always dominating the most prospective Indonesian innovations from year to year is a good system and mechanism of managing research and innovation. IPB takes initiatives to pick up the balls. "We seek innovations from the titles of theses, researches, and dissertations made by academicians. Then we contact the researchers to ask for their willingness to explore their studies. Of some 130 innovations submitted to Ministry of Research and Technology of Indonesia and BIC in 2013, most are included into the most prospective innovations.

Related to the business meeting initiated in the series of activities of IPB Agriculture Expo, Prof. Anas put forward his expectation. "We hope from this meeting effective communication in the community, i.e. a meeting of innovators from university with community members so that a process of commercialization of innovation can take place," said Prof. Anas. Otherwise, he hopes from this meeting some feedbacks to improve IPB’s innovations. These feedbacks, according to him, are important for the future improvement of the innovations in addition to identifying the technology needs of the communities. Present at the occasion were IPB’s innovators, public and private sectors. This activity is one of the agenda of IPB’s 50th Anniversary held in cooperation with Bank BRI. (Mtd)
