IPB Ready to Promote Agriculture in Tana Tidung, North Kalimantan

To promote agriculture in the region, the Government of Tana Tidung, North Kalimantan sets up cooperation with IPB. The signing of the cooperation manuscript was conducted in Rector’s office, Darmaga campus of IPB, 18/7. In his talk with the Rector, Regent of Tana Tidung, Drs. H. Undunsyah, MSi, MH expressed his intention to promote agriculture in the region.
 
According to him, at present  there is only one village of agricultural surplus, but other areas can be so. Further he says, in general cooperation for agricultural development is usually preferred on one stretch of land. However, this is not so currently; thus he looks forward to cooperation with IPB that could make Tana Tidung region as a Center of Agro Industry, Commerce and Community-Based Agriculture. Additionally, he really hopes that IPB will help also with the human resource capacity building in particular the educative staff related to the development plan of Vocational School (SMK) of Agriculture in the region.
 
In response, Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto says that IPB welcomes this cooperation for an immediate follow-up. In terms of agriculture, especially rice in Tana Tidung, Rector proposes to introduce an integrated rice production in order to accelerate the growth of agricultural development in Tana Tidung.
 
Present to witness the signing of this agreement were Expert Staff of Government and Law of Tana Tidung, Head of Education and Culture of Tana Tidung, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Accelerated Development Task Force of Tana Tidung and IPB representatives involving a fisheries expert of IPB, Prof. Dr.Ir. Rokhmin Dahuri; Director of Cooperation, Edi Dr.Ir Hartulistiyoso; Vice Dean of Faculty of Human Ecology, Professor Ahmad Sulaiman; and Vice Dean of Faculty of Forestry, Dr.Ir. Naresworo. (Mtd)
