Welcome the arrival of  2600 IPB’s  incoming freshmen on June 18, 2013, admitted through the National Selection Entrance Test for State University (SNMPTN), the Executive Secretary of IPB brought together a number of stakeholders involved in the reception, Wednesday (12/6) in the Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Dramaga Campus of IPB. The related stakeholders are the Directorate of First-Year Common Program (TPB), Dormitory Management Agency, Student Executive Board (BEM) as the committee of Open House, and Regional Students Organizations (Omda) available in IPB.

This meeting is intended to create a Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) in welcoming 50 freshmen. "This year is somewhat different because of the tight time and schedule. Thus, it needs a strategy for better admissions. The point is we have to provide the best possible service for the new students, do not let them stranded," said Dr. Eko Sri Wiyono, Vice Director of TPB.

The tight time and schedule, according to Drs. Eko, also affects the relatively short matriculation period, which is only 4.5 weeks. Therefore, new students must be prepared to follow the activities which are certainly very busy.

IPB Executive Secretary, Dr Bonny PW Sukarno said that all stakeholders involved in the new student admission have an equally important role. Therefore, their synergy should be optimal. Even Omda, this informal organization is expected to bridge as well as provide safety and convenience to new students from each region.

The meeting, which was moderated by Siti Nuryati, STP, MSI, also invited Head of Dormitory Management Dr. Irmansyah, who reported that it is ready to accept new students on the 25th of June. "But because it is already written on the website that new students could enter the dorm on June 24, then Insha Allah (God willing) we will make effort to do so on that date, especially for new students urgently needing somewhere to stay," said Dr. Irmansyah.

Meanwhile, with the span of time between June 18 for the registration and June 25 for entering the dorm, in this meeting it was agreed to wait for Omda’s readiness in accepting their new families. Such readiness includes the accommodation capacity owned by Omda until finally the new students could move to the dormitory. (Mtd)
