RevolusiOranye, Flowers and Fruits Flooded 2013 FBBN

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a Carnival on the last day of grand festival of Flowers and Fruits Festival Nusantara (FBBN) in BaranangsiangCampus, on 19 May 2013. The Carnival was started when the declaration was announced. The parade dispatched by Dr. Ir. Suswono, MMA, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia through some streets around the Bogor Botanical Gardens. On this occasion Rector of IPB, Prof. HerrySuhardiyantohanded over the book on ""RevolusiOranye (Orange Revolution)"  to the Minister of Agriculture.

 

"We are so concerned as imported fruitsare flooding the market, we are concerned as  we have not been able to breed our own fruits. Let us dig up the spirit to love our own fruits to ensure that farmers will be profitable, and ourcommunities arehealthier  andenable  arouse our concerns to love and grow fruits and flowers nationwide, "said Rector of IPB.

 

"This is a very important event as the consumption of local fruits have increased. Letsus continue to promote this cultural habits aswe have huge potential, for such fruits can not be grown elsewhere. Therefore, I hope this festival will be planned annually in Bogor and Insya Allah it will be the synergy between the Ministry of Agriculture with other parties", said Dr. Ir. Suswono, MMA. "Flowers and local fruitshave tremendous potential. Therefore, the existing potentials should be utilized as well as possible. We should not be amazed with imported fruit names, e.g.Calina papaya which further was changed it name into  California. This showed that we are fascinated by imported products, "added Minister of Agriculture.

 

Participants of the parade consisted of several groups, namely: (1). The group of IPB as the host (Lecturer, Employees, and Students); (2). The contestants of the carnival consisted of SMA/SMK/MA students, various Regional Student Organization (Omda) of IPB, and other institutions or agencies and public at large. Prior to start the carnival, all the participants pledged together on ""Ikrarcintabungadanbuah”, We pledge to love and develop our own local fruit and flower industry for the welfare and independence of our beloved Indonesia, Bogor, 19 May 2013," Pledged Dr. Ir. Suswono, MMA,followed community with great anthusias.
