"We, representing the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), congratulate Agrinex Exp, which has been held for the seventh time. Usually after its seventh, I am very confident we will see the eighth, and then in line with the role in the bioenergy sector this will be stronger,” said Dr. Ir. Dadan Kusdiana, M.Sc, Director of Bioenergy, EBTKE Directorate General, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia when speaking in the discussion entitled "Where is Indonesia" in the Agrinex Expo 2013 at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) (7/4).

"Bioenergy, since we launched in implementation of 2004-2005, has been structured and in 2010 its directorate was established. Thus, when you ask where, please look at the gas stations throughout Java and Sumatra except for West Sumatra and Jambi, Bali – if we buy oil fuel (solar), it is written Biosolar. Well that’s one existence that here there is bioenergy. Our government is planning that in 2015 we will mix with 5% but we have reached 7.5 % for the fuel. Thus, what is achieved is above the target," said Dr. Dadan.

Also present on this occasion was Dr. Ir. Dwi Setyaningsih, M.Si (Lecturer and Bioenergy Expert of IPB). During the discussion, Dr. Dwi Setyaningsih stated, "The development of bioenergy has been changing like fashion, seeking economic values – if there is no economic value, of course naturally the industry will not be able to flourish."

"For biodiesel, because we are a quite large producer of farm oil and with the subsidy from the government, we can reasonably develop. Conversely, bioethanol is still of zero percent. It still requires a push so that the subsidy is quite attractive to industry. In terms of a large scale, it is the present condition – what must be pushed is the supply at the community-based industries. For bioethanol, the solution has not been found; perhaps the government should facilitate the establishment of special centers to accommodate and conduct further process to get better quality and have better monitoring because of the growing issue of legality as ethanol is a taxed material," she added.
