Tips How to Select the Departments of IPB

Head of Sub Directorate of Student Welfare, Directorate of Student Affairs, Dr. Ir Megawati Simanjuntak, provided tips on selecting majors in the IPB for students from Perguruan Cikini High School in the auditorium Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Darmaga Campus, when they visited IPB on 18 February w013. "Choose the Subject Interest which are still needed most at the time you will be graduated from IPB, as you will be needed by  companies or agencies," she said in front of hundreds of students of the Xth, XIst, XIInd year.

 

According to her, we have plenty of midwives who assist the birth of  human being, but  we lack of midwives who are able to assist the birth cow, horse or elephant. Thus the we still need a lot of veterinerians as such expertise is  rare here in Indonesia.

 

Another example of rare expertise  is experts from the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology. "The world is currently facing  a drastic problem of climate change, we need experts in the fields of climate," said the Lecturer in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

 

As  representative of Perguruan Cikini High School, Ms. Junita Farida, the  Student Affairs Vice Principal expressed her  hope that the students who have applied for admission to  IPB through the SNMPTN system will be considered to be admitted as the next incoming students.

 

"We take the Xth, XIst, XIInd year students to enable them  to get first and complete information on  IPB, so any students who decide to take IPB to pursue their higher learning will be prepared as well as possible," she said. (Wied).
