Soetarto Alimoeso, MM (Director of Perum Bulog). This event was held at the Auditorium GMSK of Campus IPB Dramaga(6/3). This activity was moderated by Dr. Drajat Martianto M.Si.

"Welcome to this FEMA which is the youngest Faculty of IPB at IPB. This event is FEMA Talk series of event that we do every month. At the moment we will talk about the politics of food and the repositioning of Bulog post revision act of food. This is important because the life and death of a nation is determined by the issue of food and Bulog is the institution that directly comes into contact with food", said the Dean of FEMA, Dr. Arif Satria.

"Bulog is one cornerstone of the nation so that it should be able to help farmer as well as consumer. The basic concepts of food security, there are two key words here, are food sovereignty and food independence. It is the right of the state and the nation which can independently determine its food policy, which guarantees the right to food for its people, as well as provides the right for the people", said Ir. Soetarto Alimoeso, MM.

"The implementation of food is made to satisfy the basic human needs that provide benefits fairly, equitably and sustainably based on food sovereignty, food self-sufficiency and food security. The objectives of food are to increase the ability to produce food on their own, to provide a wide range of food and meet the requirements of safety, quality, nutrition for public consumption, to make sufficient levels of food, particularly staple food at a reasonable and affordable price according to the needs of society, and to facilitate or improve the access to food for people, especially people who experience the food insecurity and malnutrition,” said Soetarto.

He added that, the three important pillars of food security were food availability, food accessibility (physical and economic affordability) and how the stability, supply and price were.  (RF)
