As many as 211 Students and Teachers of SMAN 1 Dukupuntang Visited to IPB

As many as 200 students accompanied by 11 teachers of SMAN 1 Dukupuntang conducted a visit to Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Thursday (21/3) at Campus of IPB  Darmaga. The Vice-Principal of Students of Dukupuntang SMAN 1, Drs. M.Rosyidi, said that the visit to IPB to get the information about entry point and profile of faculty or department. “I hope to get the information about the entry point, the profiles of faculty and department, at least the information would reduce the failure of our students who wish to pursue higher education at IPB,” said Drs.  Rosyidi. Drs.Rosyidi cited Einstein that the people who never failed was the people who did not want to learn. “Learning should be done for life,” said Drs.Rosyidi.

 

In the occasion, the resource person from the Public Relation and Protocol Division, Executive Secretariat of IPB, Siti Nuryati, STP, M.Si, delivered the excellence of IPB and the significance of agriculture in a broad sense. In the debriefing session, a student of SMAN 1 Dukupuntang, Zaiqah Silvia, asked what department which was the most superior and what department which was the least desirable by students. It seemed that the student of class XI had looked for the initial information in advance about IPB. “A very good question. Many cases occur that many smart students can’t be accepted by IPB due to wrong strategy. A department which is considered the most favorite or the most popular does not mean the department is not superior. Because all the departments available at IPB are superior and qualified. Otherwise, it would have been closed since long. Thus, the choice of department with the level of competition is not too tight will increase the chances to be accepted at IPB, “ she said. (ris)
