IPB Himatesil (Student Association of Civil and Environmental Engineering) holds ICEF
The Student Association of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a series of activities of National Talkshow and Seminar, Indonesian Civil and Environmental Festival (ICEF), Sunday (11/11) in Darmaga Campus.
In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology IPB, Dr. Sam Herodian says despite being in a new department, the students of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Fateta, IPB have made a number of accomplishments such as the 3rd winner in the Competition of Sustainable Rural Development Design held by Hasanudin University, winning a bronze medal in the contest of Student Creativity Week, and other various competitions. "It was also the Department of Civil and Evironmental Engineering of Fateta IPB that initiated the Indonesia Forum of Environmental Engineering," said Dr. Sam.
Ir. Joerni Makmoerniati, M.Sc from the Ministry of Public Works said the paradigm of rural settlement development is to make strategic regions as a driving force of rural growth and develop strategic rural areas as growth centers such as agropolitan, minapolitan, and others. ‘ The rural development strategy integrates the components of farming / fishing / tourism systems with a set of settlement system in order to foster regional economy," said Joerni.
Head of Development and Evaluation, Assistant Deputy for Regional Policy Studies and Sector, Ministry of Environment, Ir. Qurie Purnamasari, M.Si says that examples of sustainable rural development are the development of organic agriculture in Serut Sub-Village of Palbapang Village in Bantul District; the utilization of biogas in Banjar Penyabangan, Gianyar, Bali; and waste processing, design of stilted houses, mangrove planting and crab breeding in the village of Hargobinangun, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. "We are also able to carry out activities of proklim in various locations such as waste treatment facilities, living plant pharmacies, staged house design, mangrove planting, and crab breeding as well as farm and construction of anticipating sea water abrasion," said Qurie.
