Business Incubator of IPB Facilitated Access to Capital for UMKM

Of 30 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) guided by Business Incubator Center and Entrepreneurial Development (Incubie) Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) IPB attended the activity of Business Meeting and Facilitation of Financing, Saturday (3/11) at Pangrango Hotel Bogor. The UMKM came from Sukabumi, Bekasi, Cianjur, Tasikmalaya, and Bogor.
 
The activity held in the framework of the University Incubator Development Program was the cooperation of Incubie LPPM IPB with Dinas Koperasi and UMKM West Java Province.
 
Head of Incubie, Dr Memen Surahman, said, his party had given the training both technical and management, assistance and internship, including the assistance in drafting the business plan for the guided UMKM.
 
“On this day, the facilitation of financing activity with the banking party to help the UMKM in accessing the financing to capital sources is held. Besides that, we also invite the entrepreneurs to help the UMKM in marketing the products through a partnership. To make sure the banking party in getting the capital assistance for the effort, in this occasion also the UMKM presents the planning of business development,” explained Dr Memen.
 
To be present in this event, the financial institutions both from banking and BUMN like Bank Mandiri, BSM, BRI, BNI, Sucofindo, Antam and Wijayakarya. Meanwhile from the retail entrepreneurs among others were Indomart, Alfamart, Al-Amin, SM-Mart, and Serambi Botani. This activity was also enlivened with the exhibition and the bazaar of products of UMKM tenant that lasted for two days in the area of Campus of IPB Baranangsiang Bogor.
 
On the other part, Dr Memen explained, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of RI cooperated with Dinas Koperasi and UMKM West Java implementing the business incubator development program in universities in 12 provinces in Indonesia. For West Java Province, two business incubators were selected, i.e. Business Incubator Center of IPB, and Business Incubator Center of Ikopin. Each incubator was given the task to accompany 30 UKM.
 
The program which was given among others starting from the selection of prospective tenants to gain 30 UKM of program participants, provisioning of technical production, processing and business management, assisting the preparation of business plan and simple bookkeeping, packaging label design, website design for marketing the product online, facilitation with capital sources, and also product exhibition of UKM tenant.
 
“This fund activity is fully supported by Dinas Koperasi and UMKM West Java, and as the executor is the Business Incubator of IPB. The field of business of program participants mostly is the food processing of 60 per cents, followed by the agriculture including livestock and fishery of 33 per cents, and the creative industry of 7 per cents. Educational backgrounds of the program participants are dominated by university graduate especially S1 attaining 70 per cents, S2 and D3 each of 7 per cents, and SMA of 16 per cents,” said Division Manager of Business Incubator of IPB Dr Rokhani Hasbullah.
