Various elements from the Working Units (SKPD) of District Government Kupang and South Timor Tengah, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) held the Observation Study Tour (OST) to some Family Empowerment Posts (Posdaya) assisted by Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), among them were Posdaya Kenanga, Posdaya Sejahtera, Posdaya Semai Mulya and Posdaya Benteng Harapan. By about 150 people were accepted in the Auditorium Toyib Hadiwijaya, the Faculty of Agriculture IPB Dramaga (23/10).

“We represent Damandiri, bring about 150 people and this is the second day, hopefully IPB party can accept us and communicate the experience in building the existing Posdaya in Bogor to us. The participants are also expected to be able to carry the impressions delivered by IPB to their regions in order to be able to be applied,” said Abdurahman, the resource person from Yayasan Damandiri.

Head of the Activator Team of PKK of South Timor Tengah, Mella, stated, “Thank you to IPB which has welcomed us to learn about Posdaya. With the visit today, we are a lot to learn about the spirit. Both father and mother here have the high spirit. That affirms, even though we have limitation, but with the high spirit, that is certainly able to resolve.”

There was something different in the execution of OST this time. The Regent of Kupang, Drs. Ayub Titu Eki, MS.Phd, attended directly to lead the group in this activity of OST. Ayub hoped, “This time we see what we never see, we listen to what we never hear, our thought can be changed and can motivate us to do what we never do and if we succeed in doing it that is a breakthrough. In the world of backwardness today, the breakthrough is very much needed. We thank you once again we are received and serviced so we can see many things that we have not undergone”.

Vice Head for the Community Empowerment, Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) IPB, Dr.Ir. Prastowo, M.Eng, stated, “There are four basic principles of service activities to the community by IPB, among them are based on innovation (technology, management and institutional), rest on local advantages (SDM and SDA), guarantee for sustainability – participatory, partnership, focus, and consistent, and develop the model to be ready to be replicated.” (RF)
