Last Friday Tour 2012 in Babakan Village

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) each year always held the Friday Tour to villages around the campus. The last Friday Tour for the year of 2012 was carried in Babakan village Darmaga Sub-district Bogor District (14/9). In the occasion, Darmaga Sub-district Head, Arom Rusnandar, Chief of Babakan Village, Vice Rector for Research and Collaboration, Prof. Anas Miftah Fauzi, Vice Head for Community Empowerment, Dr.Ir. Prastowo along with another Friday Tour team, presented.

In this occasion, Prof. Anas conveyed that it was necessary to have a synergy among students of IPB, merchants and local residents about the environmental hygiene. Babakan village was the nearest village with Campus of IPB Darmaga and most of IPB students settled for a while in the village.

“The village around the campus is a display window of IPB. Therefore, the arrangement of merchant and garbage needs to be done well. The residents should not hesitate to invite the IPB students so that both can keep the environment clean. Moreover, about the control and hygiene arrangements toward the merchants around the campus, the Directorate of Business and Partnership IPB will soon socialize the master plan for the arrangement of merchants around the campus to Babakan Village for better arrangement,” he said.

To improve hygiene in Babakan Village, one of the ways was the holding of the cleanliness contest among RW. Before the contest was held, every Head of RW was invited by IPB for a comparative study to a model village i.e. in Situ Gede. The contest was held in the end of September 2012. On this time Friday Tour, Prof. Anas had the opportunity to give the posyandu equipment for Posyandu Melati. (zul)
