Dr. Illah Sailah and Dr Nobutama attended the Tri University
Dr. Illah Sailah, the Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education was invited as resource persons in the Joint International Seminar and Symposium, The 19th Tri University, hosted by IPB, on 22 October 2012.
She mentioned one of the important things in the character building of international academic relations is the implementation of the National Qualification Framework in Indonesia. "Thus, undergraduate students of Indonesia (S1 level) would be equivalent to Bachelor in Australia, he said," he said. The statement was expressed in Tri University – IPB partnership event at the Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasoetion, on 22 October 2012. "With such mechanism process the transparency, equality and harmony with the international academic will be realized," she said.
While the resource person from Chiangmai University, Dr.Nobutama Ito, who is co founder of Tri-U highlighted further related to global issues such as food crisis, energy depletion and climate change. With regard to such issues, Dr. Ito hopes that the cooperation of Tri-University students could contribute in providing the solutions for the development of food technology, energy and environmentally friendly.
Dr Ito stated further that the world most current problem is steadily increasing of human population that automatically require the increase of food supply. However, as we understand that our food production has decreased due to natural disasters, global warming and climate change. Such situation cause the increase of food prices, which will affect poverty and hunger. In addition to the food problem, energy sector plays also an important factor for the the current problem because it belongs to the food chain where food production is produced, with the the increasing human population, then the CO2 continues to increase that will affect the climate change.
In front of the symposium participants Dr. Ito recommended three technologies needed for the solution namely the agricultural and robotic technology, as well as the concept of plant-based environment
Similar to the to the expression of Dr.Ito, the head of the Southeast Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology (SEAFAST) IPB, Prof. Purwiyatno stated that global issues can not be separated from the role of education and research. Finally, Prof. Purwiyato stated that Indonesia is in the process of achieving towards food security for the local food-based towards food sovereignty. (Wied).
