Cosmos Dekme: “We Want to Study Agriculture. We Want to Go forward! “

We want to move forward, we need the support of IPB so that we can learn about farming. So said one of the visiting participants, Cosmos Dekme, from Kampung Mandiri Nusantara Bersatu, Timika, Papua, (25/9) in the Rectorate Building of Dramaga Campus IPB, Bogor.
 
IPB received 10 visitors from Kampung Mandiri Nusantara Bersatu, Timika Papua. They are, Cosmos Dekme, Joel Dekme, Harley, Agnes, Ishak Dekme, Cepi, Sina and Aryanus and two companions.
 
They were greeted by IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc., IPB Supervisory Board of Care, Prof. Rizal Sjarief, Head of IPB’s Care Center, Prof. Sumarjo, and Executive Treasurer of Care, Agit Kriswantriono.

Head of IPB Care, Prof. Sumarjo, in his speech said that their visit to IPB is for them to learn about farming in the broad sense. "In order to better understand how to conduct good farming, livestock breeding, cultivating vegetables, maintaining nut and so on, so they do not open up the forest, and then left it neglected," said Prof. Sumarjo.

Prof. Sumarjo also said, IPB Care has in this case the duty to assist and guide them to live on new knowledge of farming practices and lead to a better economy. During their stay in IPB, they are given training of agribusiness and farming methods introduced in Java in the hope it can be applied in Timika Papua. (Mtd)
