Lively Campaign of Local Fruit
On Sunday, May 13, 2012 IPB students conducted a campaign of local fruit in Jakarta, starting from 06:00 to around 10:30. This campaign aims to raise public awareness so that they would like to consume local fruits. The exotic taste of local fruit is expected to be able to attract our customers. More importantly this is to acquire the national independence in the field of fruit.
The local fruit campaign was carried out on the sidewalk with a tent carrying a variety of local fruits to be the mainstay of Indonesia. Fruits were distributed to the public on the road, who were taking a walk or cycling as this was coinciding with the car free day, which was held in the same place. Some IPB students made a public speaking in the middle of the road, campaigning on the importance of loving local fruits. Some students appeared wearing a unique and funny mascot of fruit while distributing the local fruits.
The fruits offered to the visitors were salak, mangosteen, sapodilla, papaya, and banana. Besides this, the local fruit campaign stand of IPB also contained Si Babah (Fruit Kebab). This is the product of the Student Creativity Program of IPB Entrepreneurship with local fruits as its major materials.
Many visitors are attracted to this event. The public enthusiasm for the campaign was high, as evident from the participation of road users who are concerned with local fruits by giving signatures and comments on the white cloth provided.
Also participating in the event was Dr. Ir. Illah Sailah, MSc, Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, by visiting the IPB’s stand. (Mtd)
