Student Seminar on Reflection of People Food: Live or Die 60 Years Later
The Department of Agribusiness of the Faculty of Economics and Management of IPB and the Association of Agricultural Economist of Indonesia (Perhepi) named the Introductory General Studies Course and the Student Seminar on the Reflection of People Food: Live or Die 60 Years Later, (26/4) at the Campus of IPB Dramaga Bogor. This activity was the series of 60 years of High Education of Agriculture.
Two core speakers were present, i.e. Head of the Agency for Food Security, the Ministry of Agriculture, Prof. Dr.Ir. Achmad Suryana, MS., and the young entrepreneur coming from Garut City, Goris Mustakim.
Achmad Suryana said, in fulfilling the people food it should not focus on the rice only, but also the development of the food diversification based on resource and local culture was one of strategic attempts to build the sustainable national food security. "Let us consume various food, balanced and safe nutrition by making use of local food of our agricultural produce," he said. Achmad said, the threat of food crisis due to the global economic dynamics and the global climate change which was extreme demanded each country to place on a solid footing the food security itself including Indonesia.
"One of the attempts of Indonesia to anticipate from the threat of the global food crisis is to increase the domestic food production, especially the attempt of the achievement of the rice surplus of 10 million tons in 2015 and the acceleration of food diversification," he said.
Related to the local culture, Goris said that the future of a nation was in the region, and the Indonesian economy would be advance if the economy in the region was improved.
"Let the youth of Indonesia develop the nation from the village, because the small changes will influence toward the national change," he said. This program was also enlivened with the explanation of the Popular Scientific Working Paper of 60 Years of Founding of the Campus of IPB Baranangsiang, by the student of IPB. (man)
