Jumling IPB 2012 Started from Cikarawang Village

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) once again organized the Jumat Keliling (Jumling) program, (4/5). The first Jumling in 2012 was held in Cikarawang Village, Dramaga Sub-district, Bogor District. The Group of IPB was directly led by the Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M. Sc. This program was the form of service to the community which was a part of University Tri Dharma i.e. education, research and service to the community.

This Jumling Program was very useful for the community. As revealed by Dramaga Sub-district Head, Drs. Arom Rusnandar, with this program, making the knowledge existing at IPB could be applied in the community and the community could become the empowered community. “I hope these programs can be applied in other villages”, he said. Dramaga Sub-District Head also revealed that based on the statistical data, the increase of community income and the lowering of the number of poor people in his area had happened.   

The Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M. Sc. as the leader of the group, gave the welcome speech and opened the discussion of Tri Wulanan Posdaya. In his welcome speech, the Rector appealed to be together to increase the competitiveness of commodity. “The quality should be good, the cost should be exact so that our competitiveness will increase. The competitiveness is very important. The quality, price, delivery are the important things related to our ability to compete in the competitive era”, said the Rector firmly.  

The program series of this Jumling was preceded with tausiyah which was led by H. Waladan Mardijja. Orphan children who were present were very enthusiastic to follow the tausiyah program. That was seen from their spirits when answering several questions which were submitted by H.Waladan Mardijja. Besides the program of tausiyah, these children also got compensation given directly by the Rector of IPB.

In this program series, there was also conducted: the delivery of activity documentation film in 17 villages surrounding the campus, the delivery of certificate of the Licensing of Household Industry for the products of dodol ketan and rangginang issued by Health Service of Bogor District and facilitated by the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB.

On this occasion, the Rector of IPB had an opportunity to conduct the visit to the location of Agromini of Cikarawang village, the charity fair of processed product in Cikarawang Village, the location of Education for Early Age Child (PAUD) and the secretariat of Posdaya Mitra Tani Cikarawang Village. Several processed products were existed in the charity fair amongst all, singkong geprek, dodol talas, sweet potato flour, corn chips, and other interesting products. It seemed that the children at the PAUD location were enthusiastic to accept drawing book and crayon from the Rector of IPB. (rf)
