IPB Friday Tour in Sukawening
IPB Friday Tour to Sukawening Village was fulfilled by the expert of IPB from the Faculty of Veterinary. Friday Tour Program went on at Madrasah Daarul Ibtida, Kampung Cibeureum Impres, Sukawening Village, 25/5. The thing could answer a set of problems of villager which some of them were breeding, especially from the animal disease problems and its productivity. Besides that, this moment could be used by the community to consult in relation to the agricultural problems in the village.
Thank you expression was delivered by Husen, Head of Sukawening Village, to IPB. Husen conveyed that with the entry of Sukawening to become Desa Lingkar in Campus of IPB, it would facilitate the access of villager to the autonomy. Proven that there was a group of Rabbit Breeder as the result of the help of IPB, the villager felt being supported.
Related to the community autonomy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary, Prof. Dr. Srihadi Agung P, emphasized that the community intelligence was the main factor in developing the potential of rabbit breeding. It was conveyed that at the moment the community consumption on meat was still very low, it was far if compared with Malaysia. Whereas the protein contents in meat were one supporting of human intelligence, he said firmly. He added that the basic things were necessary to be realized by the villager to achieve the autonomy. One other thing according to him was education. “If there is a villager from Sukawening Village who has a good achievement at school, IPB is ready to accommodate the villager of Sukawening who want to continue his/her study to IPB,“ he said firmly.
On the occasion of this Friday Tour, IPB helped twenty fatherless children and gave the support of posyandu tools, the reading book of Iqro, and 2 female rabbits and 1 male rabbit. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Veterinary of IPB gave a parcel of healthy food consisting of sausage, milk, egg, cheese biscuit and nata de coco. At the end of the program, the group of IPB Friday Tour had sufficient time to witness the rabbit breeding owned by the farm group of the founding result of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) of IPB.
