The Rain is Falling, Avoid Tall Trees and Water Pool

Bogor town has a high rainfall, in which an extreme weather is very likely to occur – uncertain weather condition accompanied by storms and lightning of a high frequency. It is characterized by the appearance of a thick black cloud in a region, while in other areas there are thin clouds in groups," said a lecturer from the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Ir. Bregas Budianto, Ass.dipl, in the Rural Broadcast, Monday (12/3). The Rural broadcast is the cooperation between RRI (Radio of the Republic of Indonesia) and  IPB.

Bogor is located on the slope of Mount Salak with cold and cool air, but which contains a lot of  water vapor in the middle of West Java and near the Capital. Coupled by widespread construction of tall buildings, cell phone antenna tower, the frequency of lightning in the area of Bogor is increasingly higher. Further Dr. Bregas Bogor warned the residents doing outdoor activities. "For the residents of the Bogor having outdoor activities when the rain is falling and anticipate undesirable things to happen, it is better to avoid the electricity current in a tree  because tall and wet trees will attract lightning to strike, also areas with a lot water such as ponds. With so many ponds, the intensity of lightning will increase. Those are some tips to avoid any potential bad thing that can happen to ourselves." explains Dr. Bregas. (Mtd)
