Ical the intimate greeting for Ir Aburizal Bakrie, shared  tips how to be a successful entrepreneur in the Public Lecture “Entrepreneurship 2012”, at the auditorium of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University, Darmaga Campus, on Wednesday, 28 March 2012.  It is really a quite long journey for Ical "the merchant" in the world of entrepreneurship. He has been undergone through bitterness and sweetness of entrepreneurship many times. "Everyone’ life goes up and down, be it in business, family, occupation and so on. We must rise back, "he stated  when began his lecture.

Ical who was accompanied by his son Ardi Bakrie and wife, Nia Ramadhani, acknowledged that he didn’t start his entrepreneurship from the beginning, instead he began from the middle, because he inheritted from his parents. "Indeed, I began my entrepreneurship from the middle, as it was his father who started. Despite of that middle position, I also experienced ups and downs," he said. "The year 1998 was the beginning of my slump in entrepreneurship, I was even poorer than the beggar," he added. He confessed that at the time he made debts to more than 200 banks around the world, his debts was  larger  than the property and assets he owned. Out of 55% shares only 2.5% he controlled. "At that time, I am poorer than the beggar," he stated. How to solve such problem and how to  leap in entrepreneurship? Ical said that he still had constraints, paid his debts little by little and maintain an honest and fair manner. "To make the jump, we then planned my entrepreneurship for my future. In this world there are three areas that will never cease in entrepreneurship, namely, food, energy and water. From there we choose to engage in the energy business by buying coal companies, "he said
     
In the public lecture which was officially opened by Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof.Dr.Ir. Yonny Koesmaryono, MS, Ical shared his life story of his  entrepreneurship. There are three tips he gave. First, do not avoid troubles. Second, do not count other’s bag. Third, do have dreams, then make your dreams come true, offer those dreams to others,  and set relationships, do not put yourself in the dark, and learn from the existing examples. In a lecture on “Mewujudkan Kemandirian Perekonomian Indonesia Melalui Kewirausahaan" (Indonesia’s economy Achievement Through Entrepreneurship), the “Yayasan Bakrie Untuk Negeri”  awarded two laptops for two students with international achievements, Leo Wibisono and Annisa Khasanah, as well as one laptop for BEM KM IPB.
