Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Bogor Agricultural University (Fapet-IPB), Dr. Luki Abdullah said his team is examining the curriculum plan of Faculty in which it will take only five years to obtain directly a Master degree (S2). "We’re trying to lower the age of graduates from Fapet IPB so that they are younger when they start careers in the community. This is to meet the demands of the public who expect that the Animal Science graduates of IPB can served the public with adequate quality. Currently, there is the perception that the IPB graduate in animal science are not adequately prepared to serve the community," said Dr. Luki in the Alumni Association Reunion (Hunter) of Fapet IPB, Saturday (31/3) in Jakarta Convention Center. The curriculum is being discussed and is expected to be a breakthrough in higher education of agriculture.

Dr. Luki welcomed the reunion activity. The alumni, especially Hunter, according to him, helped promote the Faculty of Animal Science of IPB in various occasions. This has made it more popular and have extensive social networking in the community.

Minister of Agriculture, Suswono, also an alumnus of Fapet IPB, expects the graduates of the Faculty to assist with the government’s efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in meat and support the Program of Graduates Building Villages (SMD). "In general I am satisfied with the SMD program. Therefore, I hope the graduates from the Faculty of Animal Science IPB also support the realization of self-sufficiency in meat. It is necessary to keep in mind the animal protein consumption is still low in Indonesia – 7.6 kilograms per capita per year,  lower than that in Malaysia, which is more than 30 kilograms per capita per year," said Suswono.  The low consumption of meat Indonesia is on the one hand a great opportunity for animal science graduates of IPB to open the animal farm businesses. "It is a necessity for the Faculty to promote entrepreneurial activities in order to encourage self-sufficiency in meat," said Suswono.

Chairman of IPB Hunter, who is also Chairman of the Agrinex Expo 2012 Committee, Rifda Ammarina said that in June 2012 a National Working Deliberation will be held to appoint a new chairman of Hunter. "I hope the chairman of Hunter will serve for one term only and can not be re-elected, just as the case in a company. This is for the sake of leadership regeneration. "This Big Reunion Akbar Hunter is part of the series of activities for the 6th Agrinex Expo 2012 ‘Agribusiness for All’ held in cooperation with the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Performax and the Ministry of Agriculture.
