2012 Akbar Reunion of Genksi; Memories of 35 Years
A total of 18 senior lecturers of Bogor Agricultural University received a token of appreciation from students of Batch 14, who were admitted to the University on 1977. The token was in the form of gold rings which were granted by 2012 Genksi Reunion event at the Auditorium of Baranangsiang Campus, Sunday, 11 March 2012.
The senior lecturers were as follows: 1). Prof. Norman T Uphooff; 2). Prof Haryadi; 3). Prof. Sayogyo; 4). Prof. K. Darusman Latifah; 5). Prof. Syafri Mangkuprawira; 6). Prof. Aida Vitayala; 7). Prof. Satari; 8). Prof. Dondin Sajuthi; 9). Prof. Salman Otje; 10). Ir Elly Surya; 11). Prof. Sharif Rizal; 12). Prof. M.P. Sediono Tjondronegoro; 13). Ikin Mansjoer DVM, M.Sc.; 14). Ms. Audrey T Ungerer, DVM.; 15). Prof. Dede Irfing Hartoto; 16). Ir. Siti Sugiah M. Machfud, MS.; 17). Prof. Tun Teja; and 18). Ms. Lily E Abunawan.
This is our manifestation of our love for them, we consider them as our own parents. I hope they will be happy to accept these tokens, eventhough their nominal value are not so high, "said Mr. Budi Santoso, President Genksi, the name for the association of the alumni Batch 14 students. Genksi stands Generasi Kreatif Seni dan Intelektual (Generation for Creative Arts and Intellectual). Budi Santoso also expressed his happiness to know that there have been continuing efforts among the Genksiers to strenghten their communication.
“Alhamdulillah, I have been capable to direct Genksi community to continuously improve their social role, both for internal Genksi family and surrounding environment, among others, through Genksi Social Funds (GSF) to assist students who need funding support. Beyond that, as suggested by Prof. Norman, if God bless us, I hope we will be able to construct Genksi building for our beloved University as our legacy, "said Budi, a graduate of the Faculty of Forestry Forest Management.
Well, earlier Prof. Norman expressed his appreciation for Batch 14 who contributed greatly for the University development through the GSF which organized a lot of social activities, among others their provision of scholarships for both high school and Bogor Agricultural University students who are less fortunate. "It is expected that in ther near future, the Batch 14 will donat a building for the University," said Prof. Norman who was answered by applause of hundreds of alumni of Batch 14 who attended the event.
GSF was founded on the 5th September 2009 as a forum of communication for social activities of alumni of the University Batch 14, who was admitted to the University on the year 1977. The idea was initiated by the late Heru Yuwono. GSF activities include the provision of scholarships for less fortunate of both high school and Bogor Agricultural University students, contribute relief funds for both the grieven and the sick family of Genksiers, as well as for the national disasters. The series of program of the present Akbar reunion was begun the motivation presentation by Ir. Abdul Basith, M.Sc., then continued by a variety of activities. And the event was hosted by energetic MC, Mr. Deddy Sufredy.
Attended the reunion were Prof. Herry Suhardiyanto, who is currently Rector of the University, the former Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, Prof. Rokhmin Dahuri, Dr. Didiek Hadjar Goenadi who served as Research Director of PT Nusantara Plantation (RPN), and Dr. Illah Sailah, who is currently the Director of Learning and Student Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education, and Ministry Education and Culture, all are alumni of Batch 14.
