Canteen Zea Mays of IPB introduced a new menu of diversified food (21/12). In the cafeteria, which also serves as a laboratory of food diversification, a number of menus of processed products of corn noodles such as Noodle Basket & Meatball Curry, Noodle Green Mussie, Noodle Pizza, Noodle Nugget, Noodle Rollade and I fu Mie.

"All of the menus that we are launching today are of corn-based noodles. We are doing this as part of the dissemination of corn noodle technology that has been introduced by a team of researchers from the Department of Food Science and Technology (ITP). Zea Mays Canteen then facilitates the production and marketing aspects of corn noodles with various menus that we offer," said Dr. Heri Ahmad Sukria as Head of IPB Sub-Directorate of Business and Partnership.

According to him, this is intended to make the product better known as an alternative food besides rice to the public, especially IPB community members, to be.

Various menus of diversified food result from the cooperation of Zea Mays Canteen and the Department of Food Science and Technology IPB. As Chairman of the Corn Noodle Technology Research Team, Dr. Feri Kusnandar said that this step was taken to accelerate the dissemination and adoption of corn noodle technology by business operators.

"Currently, we only supply the raw material in the form of corn noodles. In the future we will train the staff of Zea Mays Canteen to be able to produce its own corn noodles," he added.
 
From 2005 to 2011, Dr. Feri and the team have been studying the technology of producing corn noodles from the laboratory scale to pilot plans and industrial scale. Currently, the study has entered a stage of technology transfer to small industries and set up outlets for corn noodle development. One is the Zea Mays Canteen of IPB.

Here are the detailed menus offered: Basket Noodle & Curry Meatball is a corn noodle shaped like a basket filled with curry, meatballs and potatoes sold at Rp. 22.000. Green Mussie Noodle is a corn noodle soup served with green mussels and flavored cream sauce, priced at Rp. 17.500.
 
Noodle Pizza is a pizza with wet / dry corn noodles filling, pepperoni, Italian-seasoned tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, priced at Rp. 25.000. Noodle Nugget is a noodle nugget with beef flavor and healthy vegetables, sold at Rp. 3000. Rollade Noodle is a rollade with chicken flavor with and healthy vegetables, priced at Rp 4000. And I fu noodles are fried corn noodles, doused with some kind of cap cay dish complete with shrimp, bean curd, chicken, meatballs and other green vegetables, sold at Rp. 18.000. (Mtd)
