The Department of Physics of Bogor Agricultural University Provides 30 Rice Husk Stoves for Villagers in Cibungbulang

The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Bogor Agricultural University (FMIPA IPB) distributed 30 Rice Husk Stoves for villagers  at Kampung Bantar Karet,  Situ Ilir village, District Cibungbulang, Bogor Regency, on 29 October 2011. The free distribution of the new kind of stove was part of  the socialization of the utilization of alternative fuel energy other than kerosene or gas to the community. "I saw the abundant of rice husks in Situ Ilir, and such raw materials are usually priceless. Hopefully the new invention will assist the community for its energy resilience, "said Irzaman on his remarks fr the socialization.

Irzaman confessed, in term of  fuel consumption the use rice husk stove is much cheaper compare  to the use of kerosene stoves and gas. "One sack of rice husk costs only Rp. 3000,-  or even be free, and it could generate energy for two weeks or one month," he said.
Dian, the housewife from the village of Cikemang, said that up to now she has been utilizing  kerosene stove and gas, and have never experience with rice husk stove.

“Gas stove will last for to 2 weeks, if I also use electric appliances such as rice cooker and water bioler. I pay Rp. 15.000,- (fifeteen thousand Rupiah) for a small tank of gas here, "said Dian who also received one of the 30 free rice husk stoves. Dian predicted  that the use of rice husk stove will save fuel, hence that rice husks are very abundant in the village’s

The distribution of these stoves was carried out by the  Association of Student of Physics (Himasfi) of 46-47 batches and was  accompanied by Chairman of the Department of Physics, Dr. Ir. Irzaman, M. Si, and one of the  Physics lecturers of Bogor Agricultural University who is concurently also researcher in   Renewable Energy.

Before the distribution started, brief information and how to use the rice husk stove for cooking was explained.  Students, faculty members, community leaders, village officials and the the communities interacted each others in the community garden, as the venue.

Rice Husk Ashes Have Attracted the Microprocessor Company

Rice husk ashes as the side products of rice husk stove which were revealed by the Head of The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Bogor Agricultural University (FMIPA IPB), Dr. Irzaman, have  attracted Intel, one of the international microprocessor and processor  companies, at the International Energy Competition in India, last 17-21 September 2011.

"The company interested in rice husk ashes as they have potentialities to be processed as the raw material for the manufacture of semi-conductors in the process of silicon oxide and silicon. Currently we are conducting research programs toward such target, "said Irzaman. (Wied).
