IPB Deploys 711 Animal Health Check-Up Officials
Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto released 711 officials to examine the health of the sacrificial animals, consisting of 666 students and 45 lecturers, on Friday (4/11). "This is a proof that Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) receives high appreciation from the public. This activity gives us the awareness that the veterinary profession is very important and needed in the community," said Rector. He advised that inspectors maintain good attitude and speech."I expect you to control your behavior when carrying out the task. Do not make jokes or utter bad words. You are there holding the reputation of the institution," said Rector.
Chairman of the Animal Health Inspecting Committee of IPB, Dr. Handri Latif says that the animal health inspectors are deployed in ten areas of the city or regencies, including Towns/Regencies of Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Jakara and Thousand Islands. Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine IPB, Prof. Dr.drh I Wayan Teguh Wibawan said that public awareness of healthy and halal (lawful) food has increased very significantly. This is also the case with the request for sacrificial animal health examiners from various regions. "One group of flight from Gorontalo (local government staff) came to take part in the training on monitoring the health of sacrificial animals. This is carried out because of the limited human resources to examine sacrificial animals," said Prof. Wayan. In addition to monitoring the sacrificial animals, IPB veterinarians also take part in advancing the IVF technology.
