Health is Everything
"Health is everything; without it everything is meaningless. When healthy we can do any activity we want and there are three factors of health, namely healthy consumption, healthy environment and healthy behaviors." This was expressed by Dr.drh. Rizal Damanik, a lecturer of the Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA), IPB in the morning Dialogue of RRI Bogor, Tuesday 8 November 2011, to commemorate the National Health Day which falls on November 12 every year. "The joy of good health is indeed felt when we already fall ill," he said.
"A person would not enjoy a healthy life in dirty environment, so it is essential to understand early on about the environment and health services supported by adequate nutrition as well as the genetic factors such as a person born with diseases such as diabetes. Altogether the four factors above will be greatly interrelated to create environmental health with nutrition consumed by the people," he explained.
Further he says, "A balanced nutritional intake is very important, that is, by consuming a varied diet. Our rich country produces fruits and vegetables of many kinds and they are required for our body growth. "People’s awareness is expected; if we want to be healthy, let’s together build a healthy environment because health does not come up by itself, but there should be efforts towards that direction," concluded Dr. Rizal Damanik closing the interactive dialogue that morning.
