IPB LISTENING FORUM: Role of Alumni in Implementation of IPB Innovations
IPB alumni gathered as a series of 48th IPB Anniversary activities in the "IPB Listening Forum Hearing" (23/11) at the IPB International Convention Center, Baranangsiang, Bogor.
In the event alumni gave input and suggestions to the largest agricultural institution in Indonesia. Some of the successful alumni such as Chief Editor of Tempo magazne, Thoriq Hadad, inventor of the variety of pearl rice, Saein, coffee business owner. Mr. Black and manager of sports tabloid Bakrie Group, Adi Basri, Vice Minister of Commerce Krisnamurthi, Chairman of Fishery Cooperative Indonesia, Wibisono Wiyono, Managing Director of Antara, Mukhlis, etc. were present there.
The 48th Anniversary is entitled "IPB Innovation toward a New Era of Indonesian Agriculture". IPB views innovation as an important part in creating a new era of Indonesian agriculture, that is, agriculture with innovative products. IPB innovations have colored the history of the Indonesian nation," said IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M. Sc, in his speech.
According to Rector, IPB keeps thinking how to implement these innovations, and needs a driving force to accelerate the implementation process.
"Hopefully with the meeting of the alumni in the IPB Listening Forum, the alumni will take the side to assist with the implementation of these innovations in the community. The forum will be an opportunity for them to express their ideas / criticisms that our innovations are not far away from the community," he said.
"And there should be concrete follow-ups such as to form a Research/Innovation Association as a means for the lecturers / researchers / alumni to identify what research is needed by the community so that IPB research can really match with the community needs and improve IPB and the nation," he added (Mtd)
