The changing patterns of the Indonesian youth mindset to learn  how great is the potential of the Indonesian marine and fisheries has attracted the attention of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia. One of the methods to improve the professional performance of human resources in marine and fisheries sector, is by entrepreneurship.

Head of The Agency for Marine and Fisheries Human Resources Development, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia (AMFHRD – BPSDM-KP), Mr. Sjarief Widjaja expressed this stetement in the Youth Symposium on Marine and National Fisheries (SIMNAS KPK), at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Bogor Agricultural University, Dramaga, 17 September 2011.

"There is no success without effort, learn how to practice entrepreneurship, but the major obstacle of all is ourselves," this was his statement in front of Bogor Agricultural University students. According to Sjarief, the youth must fight together if they want to transform maritime affairs and fisheries, they have to be ready for competition, increase innovation, empowering human resources, and love the domestic products.

"The spirit of entrepreneurship in young people in the marine fisheries sector requires the role of the Indonesian youth that are supported by the government," he said.

The seminar, was also attended by NGOs representatives and also university communities. In addition to the Talkshow on "Menyongsong Pembangunan Bangsa dengan Semangat Kepemudaan  dan Revolusi Bahari = The spirit of youth and maritime revolution towards the of Nation Building", Chairman of the Students Executive Agrncy (BEM), C. Riza Lutfi, presented his  scientific oration on  the role of youth in the Fisheries and Marine Resources in Indonesia. (Wied).
