Centre for Regional Planning and Development Studies (P4W) held an International Seminar entitled "Geospatial and Human Dimensions on Sustainable Natural Resource Management" on Monday (12/9) at IPB International Convention Centre, Bogor.

The seminar as one in the series of 48th IPB Anniversary activities is supported by several government agencies such as Bakosurtanal, LAPAN, BPN, and so on.

IPB Rector, Prof. Herry Suhardiyanto, opened the event, which was attended by researchers, practitioners, students and NGO.

Meanwhile, Head of Bakosurtanal Asep Karsidi turned up as a Keynote Speaker by presenting the theme "Geospatial Information Law and Its Role in Improving Industrial Utilization of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) Technology."

In his presentation, Asep said that the goal of IG Act is to ensure the availability of Geospatial Information that can be accounted for.

"The use of SAR technology will increase the availability of Geospatial Information, especially in areas that are always covered with clouds. In the future, the active participation of all stakeholders is needed in developing GI in Indonesia, including in an increased industry of SAR. It is also necessary to develop human resources to be good with Geospatial technologies, especially SAR technology", he said.

In this event was attended by a number of mapping experts / researchers as speakers in the panel discussion in a series of seminars. In addition to seminars they also participated in the exhibition (Mtd))
