One advantage of being the students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) is a complex thinking and interacting with a great variety of people. "Other benefits are being highly curious, humble, and hungry for knowledge and always interested to try something new. This makes IPB alumni can survive anywhere, even compared to overseas graduates", said Sales and Marketing Director PT.Sierad Produce Tbk, who is also an IPB graduate from Batch 26, Ir. Aryo Widi Wardhono, MMA, in the General Lecture on the topic “Why I become an IPB Student, Saturday (24/9) in Bogor. The activity, moderated by Vice Minister of Agriculture, Dr.Ir.Bayu Krisnamurthi, MS, was held by the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management, with the support of the Non-Government Organization “Bangsa Kita Peduli” and Directorate of Student Affairs of IPB.

Aryo told the story of his life while he was in college. A modest family background encouraged Aryo “turn his brain” to compensate for the insufficient cost of his life in Bogor. "Twice I was elected as class chairman. As the class chairman I had one task to photocopy the lecture materials from my professors. I chose a lower price of photocopy than that in campus and took profit from it," said Aryo. He also involved in various projects of lecturers to remote areas of Indonesia. Due to hi achievement, Aryo got scholarships for Master degree (S2) in Business Management in IPB. "Well it was there I helped students of better economy with their academic assignments and got extra pocket money," he continued.

Another inspiring story came from the President of General Electric Indonesia, who is also an IPB graduate, Dr.Ir.Handry Santriago. "At the age of 17 years old I had a cancer and was assured not to able to use my legs to walk. At that time, my world became dark. For three months I stayed in the room. Until one day my father advised: Will I continue like this? If that is the choice it does not matter, don’t worry we can still finance your life. But you will lose many of your passions," said Dr. Handry in his wheelchair. From then on, Handry was determined to fight against various obstacles. According to him, a less normal and a little ‘crazy’ man is sometimes more creative, realistic and able to choose the right solution to every problem. "Therefore, be a little ‘crazy’ to get various opportunities," he said. This event also invited another IPB graduate, Ir.Iwan Setiawan, Writer of the Best Seller Book ‘9 Summer 10 Autumns’ (Mtd)
