Anticipating Trafficking: Look at Children’s Life Style
Blackberry, Brace teeth, and driving a BMW or commonly known as a B-3 lifestyle, has long been the lifestyle of some teenagers in the Regency of Sukabumi. So said Head of Women’s Empowerment Division of BKBPP Sukabumi, Dra. Elis Muslimah, MM., speaking in the "Training of Trainers (ToT) for the Treatment and Prevention of Human Trafficking" organized by the Women’s Studies Center Division (PSW) of PSP3 LPPM IPB in collaboration with the Director General of Non Formal, and Informal Early Childhood Education, Ministry of National Education, on Thursday (15 / 9).
According to the Elis, it could be one of the triggers in the crime of human trafficking. "How could it not happen when at home children do not get it all, so often they fall into the victims of those will employ them in a workplace offering big wages. I therefore advise that parents be aware of the children’s lifestyle today, "said Ellis.
In the same place, Head of Social Development Bureau, Regional Secretary of West Java Province. Dr. Nenny Kencanawati said that restoring and bringing home the victims of trafficking is not an easy and inexpensive step. Nenny said, the period after returning back home should also be considered by all parties because often those taken home with great difficulty secretly returned to the previous lifestyle.
According to Nenny, trafficking victims picked up and returned by the Task Force Team of West Java Province in the period 2009-2011 until September 2011 accounted for 139 victims. Most ware from Bandung Regency, because of economic factors, globalization of information, new and safe area for traffickers to operate compared to other areas.
Nenny also maps the victims of trafficking based on regions (zone) of West Java. The municipality and regency of Bogor falls into Region II, where the number of trafficking victims is still small but the potential emergence of new victims is quite great as the women population is quite high. Meanwhile, The Regencies of Cianjur and Sukabumi are of Region I, that is, its vulnerability is one level higher.
"Hopefully, people take part by reporting valid population data periodically to the Heads of RT (Neighborhoods), RW (a group of neighborhood), and Village Chief, concerning residence, age and others," he concluded. (Mtd)
