Job fair at Bogor Agricultural University

The Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) Bogor Agricultural University held 2011 Job Fair, on 30-31 July 2011, at Grha Widya Wisuda Building (GWW), Dramaga Campus. 42 (fourty two) companies applied for joining the fair, but only  35 (thrity five) were  selected.

 “We expect around 4000-5000 (four – five thousands) job hunters will visit this fair, and our target are fresh graduates of the diploma program, Bachelor and Master degree holders, but no job opportunties for high school graduates," said Iin Solihin, S.Pi., M. Si, the Head of Career Development for Students in the RRI Dialogue, on 26 July 2011, at the RRI Bogor.

Iin explained the historical background of organizing the Job Fair, and the present fair is the 8th  (the eight) of its kind. According to the Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the national unemployment rate has reached 10% (ten percent) of the available workforces, therefore,  efforts should be initiated to generate job opportunties.  Job Fair is 1 (one) of the channels  to promote the vacancies.

"There is no exact number as how much of the unemployment could be absorbed by the Job Fair, but based on the number of companies which have participated in the fair, and if each of the company will open 10 (ten) slots, thus 350 (three hundred and fifty) men will be recruited. This only our expectation, but everything will be depending on the number of vacancies being offered by those companies , "he said.

The admission fee is Rp. 15.000,- (fiveteen thousand Rupaih) for members DPKHA and Rp.  30.000,- for public. This Job Fair also presents various activities such as the Career Expo, Company Presentation, Talkshow "Successful Tips for Job Hunters", and HRD of Bogor Agricultural University Forum. (Wied)
